Back in the day, when we all had our mega drives or our snes,' gaming was a pleasure. Games were new and exciting, you were either a sega man or a nintendo man and in some cases, an amiga fan. THEN ONE DAY..........

Sony entered the scene with their own little console the Playstaion. Due to Sony's massive marketing campaign, they introduced gaming to a whole new audience, the casual gamer.
No longer were people buying games for sheer enjoyment but for the sake of buying games.
A prime example is Nintendo, they produce a game of their own every couple of months and 9/10 times it's good. But because of Sony churning out mediocre games every week, Nintendo have had to rush many of their own games just to compeat with Sony. Sega have paid the price, who knows maybe Nintendo is next and that just leaves Sony and Microsoft, two of the worlds richest companies continuing to make ok games for the sake of making games.

I agree. I mean their consoles were never that great anyway. Master system was nevr as good as NES. Mega drive probably was better than SNES I suppose but the there's Saturn....ahem. I have a Dreamcast but there are not enough top class games. Shenmue, Soul Calibur and MSR. There are a few more but I really can't be bothered to go into them. In my opinion N64 is better.

hmmmm... Sony's enterance into gaming was good. The fact is that gaming is now larger than it ever has been before. More people buying games means more money to make games which means better games.
The point about for every good PSone game there are 10 bad ones.... it can also be said that for every good N64 game there is a good PSone game, if not more.

And if you think of Perfect Dark 2, well Sony really will have to make something special to beat that.
