This is clever. :) Anyone remember the advertising campaign for that film AI which had a ring of various fictional websites forming a fictional backdrop for the world the movie was set in? No, thought not. But here's something similar that may intrest you.

Take at look at the site. Notice anything.. like the shape of the logo? The link to Orbis Lab's with their suspiciously familiar new weapon they're prototyping? The familiar aliens in the grainy videos? The name of the scientist? The Oakley glasses that could be a visor in it's infancy?

Nintendo are being very clever methinks. Very clever indeed.

Nintendo didn't do that.

It is either a disgruntled Retro employee or more likely a member of IGN trying to be funny.

Yeh, for a few months now there has been. ILoveBees.com http://www.ilovebees.com.

Nintendo, as part of the Channel 51 campaign, has spoofed it at about 4 different sites (see below for the addresses I posted.. one of them is ILoveKnees.com though I think).

Have Nintendo themselves ever done something like this before?
(Probably in Japan...)

I remember the Carrington Institute thing for Perfect Dark - heck, I even believe the game was based around real-world settings, before a friend set me straight - but, that was a RARE thing, anyway.

Any-one of the Super Mario games?
What about a Legend of Zelda?
...Donkey Konga!?

At least, with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, following the instant attraction and love for the first title, they do have the right kind of game to suit these extra capabilities and build something from them.

Also, out of interest, is there a similar thing on-going for Halo2?

All this is brilliant for people who actually know what they're on about. The thing is ... that with a decent advertising campaign, MP2 is just the kind of game Ninty could shift by the shed-load.

What I like about this is that it has actually REALLY made me want the game more than ever.

Metroid Prime 2 was just a game I expected to get... but now the hype is starting to settle in and, now Pikmin 2 is out of the way, seems the real "must have" game this Christmas.

As much as I'll love Paper Mario 2... it is Prime 2 that I simply MUST own.

"Our team of world class scientists and technicians are developing the modular motion apparatus of the future: the Battle Sphere. With the fortitude of a tank, the mobility of infantry, and its unique superstructure allowing soldiers to morph into its shell, the Battle Sphere will dramatically enhance a soldier's defense profile to meet every combat situation."

Yep, what with the morph-ball prototype on the site it links too, and the scientist's name being Samantha Manus.

Jet Force Gemini?
Just from looking at the logo and weapon - the videos take too long to load.

If it is Jet Force Gemini wouldn't it be a Rare or a Microsoft site.

Edit;
Now I've watched Species X: Rossler Video "Extraterrestrials" 1 I think it could be Metroid prime
