I know it may not be the best place to put it but i thought that this is an inteligent discussion- why do sales people in MOST games shops always look down on you when you buy titles that are not in the 'main stream' i mean last week i got laughed at for buying Killer 7 as the sales person thought it was rubbish because of the graphics- and i was talking to aa mate , the same happened to hims when he bought the gregory horror show.

its just annoying how they always want to promote the worse titles available *eg fifa 20XX* and like denounce the others because they are different

i think they should all need training to make them see what a real good game is

I do know - as I've said in previous response I've worked in videogame retail.

Infact, I worked at all three Cardiff Game stores and Gamestation :P

I still disagreed with it all - for the stickers didn't always get put on (for it's often the case that unless you notice the game is out of stock, no one else will bother).

Normally they'll have 'Out of Stock' stickers on, and a lot of the time they're displays that EA/Activision/Microsoft, etc. have paid for - So, even if they don't have the stock, they're contractually obliged to put the box-art there for presence and shelf space.

Annyoing, but it's just business.

I used to work in GAME, and me and the lads there would praise people for buying good stuff.

We'd tell people if a game was bad and get moaned at by the Manager.

One time this guy sneezed on the desk and his mucus/snot went all over a pen. I refused to clean it up and went out the back wrenching.

He was like: "Sorry, you might want to clean that up!"

You THINK? D**khead!

Good times, though. It's just tillwork at the end of the day, but the mid-night openings, etc. are good. 30% discount, too. Although you did buy more for the sake of it..

"Only £20 for that? Bargain. I won't play it, but I'll take 5 anyway!"

One just glared at me today as I bought Oddworld Stranger.

It was funny.

Can I just say that graphics are not what make a game?

When i buy games I don't bother about the graphics - I buy it for the game. Next time - tell them that.

Haha, that's hilarious.

They could of just reprocessed the stock amount into the system and sold it.

That's what always bugged me about videogame retailers.

Fair enough, pre-release show dummy boxes with 'coming soon' on them to get attention and possibly pre-orders.

However, when its out, don't show dummy boxes with the prices on unless you have them in stock.

There was a story in the paper the other week about a guy who went into Comet, picked up the box for a TV he liked and went to the counter:

"Hi I'd like to buy this TV"
"ok what model number is it?"
*taps numbers into computer*
"I'm sorry sir we don't have any of that model in stock"
*man holds out box with TV inside it*
"yes you do I've got it right here"
"no sir the computer says we don't have any in stock"
"But there's one right here, you obviously do have one in stock"
"I'll go get the manager"
*manager arrives*
"I'm sorry sir but the item you're requesting isn't in stock. Perhaps you'd like to choose something else"
*man puts down TV and walks out*

That's my favourite story about staff inpetitude.
