The GAMECUBE games are looking better than what the PS2 games looked at that stage, but as I haven’t played any GAMECUBE games I can’t really comment on which is the best games console there is at the moment.
A lot of (I hate saying casual) casual gamers will be put of from buying a GAMECUBE because they believe that the PSX was better, therefor they will think twice before buying the next Nintendo console. On the other hand, some people think that the PSX was a flop, but they are getting the PS2 because the games on it are fantastic, and it has a bright, very bright future.
I have downloaded nearly all of the GAMECUBE movie trailers now and I can honestly say that they look fabulous! I am most impressed with Star Fox Adventures in terms of graphics, but I think Pikmin wins for originality, in my opinion anyway.
As I have said before, I have a PS2 and love it, and when the GAMECUBE comes out I will love that, and I don’t think that either consoles will be better than the other because they have both got great games out/on the making.
If you want my REALLY honest opinion on the price of the PS2, I will give it to you now. It is NOT worth £300. Although I have one, I still think £300 is a lot of money and I think Sony are just doing this so the “hard core” fans pay out the full £300. Sony are not silly, they know people are thinking that the GAMECUBE is cheaper and therefor better. This will make Sony soon (very soon) drop the price of the PS2, making it a fair battle between each console, even though both Sony and Nintendo say they are not competing with one another. This is good news because hopefully fans of each console will not argue about what console is best… bah who am I kidding? People are going to argue about consoles no matter what, and as long as they don’t start insulting ones console, then it could be a good argument. Still, I am glad that finally Nintendo are starting to shake off their “kiddie” image and start to make games for the adult gamer, although many adults like playing games like Mario! Personally, and this is just my opinion, I would much rather play a game like Mario than Resident Evil because I think Mario is just much more fun, but then again it is all down to taste. As I was saying, Nintendo have a good bunch of adult games in the making, like Ravens Blade, which looks fantastic.
I say good luck to the GAMECUBE and may Sony continue with their success in the gaming world.
