I would have to say the most powerful and inspirational piece I have ever heard would be 'Duel of the Fates' from star wars episode 1:The phantom menace but I think it features in all of the new films. I'm sure its the echoeing choral element that sets it apart from other film tracks. I'd say 'Duel of the Fates' is closely followed by Rob Dougan's 'Chateau' from The matrix reloaded and 'In a heartbeat' by In da house from 28 days later.
what do you think? is there any music from the commercial sector that you find particularly powerful?

But, but, the violins!
Oscar well deserved for Howard Shore.
Ocean Machine - the death of music
poewrful in profoundly different ways, but both fantastic.

Most powerful track on the LOTR soundtrack I would say is 'the great river' or 'minas tirith'.
The most powerfull peice of classical traditional music I have listened to is probably Ravel by Bolero or Carmina Burana. The former I feel is also getting over used and most of the time for comical effect which I dont find at all funny due to the intense nature of the piece.
> Barber - Adagio For Strings
It's becoming overused :( Like in the Ch4 "A Bear's Tail" trailer.
And the dance remix of it was shat.

The intro music to FFx-2 and the end of first disk boss in VIII are brilliant also.
