Sure, it takes the stresses in words such as 'explosion' and 'exciting', and therefore gives that sort of dangerous and exciting feel required in those words.
But it's also the stressed letter in "excrement", which I'm sure you'll agree, is less exciting, and rather smelly.

I'll agree there, but they overkill a good thing too. It becomez like net talk, lolz, where they totally replace the 's' with a 'z'. Fools.
