The nominations for Nintendo Gamecube game of the year are:

Animal Crossing
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
WWE Day of Reckoning

I seem to remember a better choice last year and less colons. You know it's been a bad year when Day of Reckoning makes into the top 6. And as for game of the year, there isn't a single GC game on the list:

Doom 3
Fable
Half-Life 2
Ninja Gaiden
Pro Evolution Soccer 4
WWE Smackdown! Here Comes The Pain (Was that really better than MK:DD?)

Oh well. At least 2005 looks promising and GC got two nominations for most wanted game of 2005 with the new Zelda and Resident Evil 4.

The only reason that Animal Crossing lasts so long is because certain items of furniture are only available on one day per year. If it was possible to get any item on any day the game would last a only a week or two. You can only play on Animal Crossing for 15 minutes per day unless you're willing to spend hours making deliveries for your neighbours.

NOM are good in terms of previews, as they get games first because they are 'official'

But in other sections, like reviews and letters, they are very poor and childish.

By the way, I'm beginning to dislike NOM. I've said it before and I'll say it again, how can a letter about naming your cat be crowned as star letter?

Mario Kart is good fun and because there was disagreements over Mario KArt doesn't mean it is bad.

I hear hundreds of complaints about Crossing.

Because it is crap.

And Mario Kart rules.

I'd go the other way around.

Mario Kart was good but too short and, in my opinion, overrrated.

Crossing is a brilliant game that you can just keep coming back to.

I'd say Animal Crossing was disappointing considering all of the hype. Personally, I would vote for Mario Kart to win simply because it is a lot more fun and I've even convinced many PS2 and Xbox owners to spend a good few hours playing it.

Did you read magazines like 'NOM' when Mario Kart came out?

'It's too short'

'It needs more tracks'

'There should be more characters'

And you say Crossing is an age old N64 game. Well, I'd say Double Dash falls into that catergory. Look at how many Mario Karts have been produced.

Animal Crossing for me.

I think a game that hit number 1, sold millions and won several awards will beat an age old N64 port that sold 100,000 copies and is also let alot of people down.

Such as myself.

I said, Nintendo are "considering it". They had a survey on their site to find out how many people would buy it if they brought it out.

And it has more than new songs. The graphics are *alot* sweeter, and there's some new *yawn* minigames. Which ain't apparently as bad.

I could see Ninty bringing out here if it makes the US. Not exactly tough to translate.
