So, advantages, disadvantages, links to good deals (under about £300, preferably, but ebay etc. is all good).

Just something to store all my music and porno on.

Thankee.

You are going to have a lot of trouble buying a decent laptop for £300. May I suggest you up your budget to about £500 or £600. Check out the Dell 510m, or the Acer website.

Oh, and you want a Pentium M Centrino (not celeron, not dothan) for your processor.

That'll definitely push up the budget. But then again I haven't seen a laptop for £300 or under that's anything at all.

Haha, £300 for a laptop is shocking. £500 is ok if you only wanna do word processing. £1000+ is what you'll spend for anything that can play games at a decent resolution.

However, £500+ for a desktop PC will get you something far better than the £1000 laptop.

Right, if I push the budget up to £500 then, will this be enough to get a fairly decent one.

Thanks for pointing out the Processor point gerrid, I'll take note of that.

It depends what you want to do. It'll get you a fairly decent laptop if all you're doing is office-based stuff, but anything game related and you're looking at £900 minimum for something worth buying.

Does it have to be a laptop?

Portability aside, you can get a lot more for your money buying (or building) a desktop.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
