I already have the regular PS2 (The 30000scph model) , and I had a disc read error 3 times ever since I bouhjt it in 2002, but now it's working fine, so do I need the new one ? Size doesn't concern me. If getting it would mean not having disc read errors anymore, and fixing the DVD compatibility problem, then I should, but does anyone have any idea aboput that ? Did Sony announce anything about fixing disc read errors , or the DVD compatibility ?

In a nutshell, no.

If you wanna watch DVD's, buy a DVD player. They're cheaper, better, and don't make you look like a fool.

(Guess what lads, mine's smaller than yours! :P)

I agree, the noise is a bit annoying but if i can save alot of money i would do so.

Only reason I would even consider getting it would be if my current PS2 packed in, and even then I would look at getting a 2nd hand one first.

Get one if you want. I got one and it's great. It doesn't do anything more than the original PS2, but it's much quieter so it's better for DVD's, and if your current PS2 isn't working properly you'd be as well getting one of these if you can afford it. Plus the flip-top design is great.
