Anyone know of any good websites, any current technology, or any ideas of your own about how this amazxingly cool thing could be acheived?

Yeah, but the blade part is ALWAYS white.
Watch any of the films. The blade is white, the glow is different.
For over £100, you get a lightsaber that doesn't look anything like a proper one...great.

You'd need some sort of filament for the colour. Or you could find a way of sticking a disco machine in there, so it'd be multicoloured. None of that purple rubbish please.
And you'd need a way of turning it on and off again. unless you want it burning up the table, and a strong heat resistant handle.
