It's horrible

1024mb Ram
2.53gHz processor

And it jerks while playing a song, or when moving my mouse across the screen.

Any ideas?

I've
- run a virus scan
- run an ad scan
- defragmented it

Did use a registry cleaner, but couldn't really find a good free one.

And no, nothing is really using the CPU, maybe something with one or two percent usage, but that's it.

Is there any other task taking up CPU load in the Task manager? Or just Idle Process?

And have you used a registry cleaner yet?

If you don't know then it won't affect your situation. It's basically a custom made driver to bleed more performance/features out of a bit of hardware.

Hacked drivers are just the sort of thing that could cause 100% CPU usage whilst playing an mp3 :S

After you've played an mp3, try right-clicking->Manage on My Computer, then to the Event Viewer->System page, and sorting by the Type column. Do you see any errors (red crosses) with today's date? If so, what are they? You can right-click->properties on them to get more information about what they mean.
