For those of you who have the first album, it's more like I remember when then Dreaming of you, but that hasn't cost them anything in terms of overall genius.
Their best, however, is clearly So Long Ago. It's what The Coral do best - feel good (for want of a better description), upbeat guitar songs that stick with you. I can see it becoming my favourite song by the dirty scousers.
So yeah, if you've got a tenner and you're a Coral fan, pick it up. Or even go the extra yard and spend about £13 on the special edition with the live disk included. It's all the rage, nowadays.
Plus I'm patching up the gaps with albums I really should have bought ages ago.
I sampled some music for XFM, Virgin and people recently and the songs which I hadn't heard before were atleast of a decent listenable standard even if they're not the next big thing. Perhaps a good mini-era of music.
I'm glad that it's not all feel good, happy happy music, though. Yes, their happy music does utterly pwn the rest of their works, but if it was all dreaming of you and in the morning, they'd be a bit crap, wouldn't they?
