... What exactly makes a Notable stand out ?

What I mean is we've only recently held the latest election for FFF to morph into a snot-coloured beast but I'm just interested to know excatly what qualities you look for or have done in the past

Some users seem to have been voted on partly because they were in 'the original crowd', others because they were helpful of perhaps very big in a particular forum

Is it a winning personality or the attitude shown in the posts ?

Just a little insight into the minds of everyone, just out of interest. Not ables feel free to post your opinions aswell

It obviously doesn't need to go to that extreme. The hostility just needs to be toned down a little bit.

Of course there'll still be the usual people spouting the same and unoriginal forum insults such as "you're a retard", "you're retarded" or "do you realise how retarded you are".

Ok, some of it could be classed as bullying but if you're saying people should respect other peoples' opinions whilst forwarding their own I agree

However, you summarised a little too much and said everyone should have good manners, and people with them should become a Notable - there's enough people with good enough manners, just there are always imbeciles as in every aspect of life

p.s In reference to 'no intellectual debates except in Life', this is basically one that we're having now (three way kind of thing)

I agree, but most debates on SR, excepting in Life, are usually hardly classed as "intellectual"

Skepticism I have no problem with, what would be considered bullying if the things here were said to someones face, I have no time for, and this is what Im referring to.

I think I summarised the points well in my last message (see below) but then I would say that

However, if you can't be bothered to read it I'll ... well ... I'll slam the door and hmpfh

I agree that manners should be upheld on SR, to the degree of correct spelling and punctuation where possible - to make messages clearer.

I'm trying to endeavour to not be so sarcastic and it's working, but some friction is needed and intellectual debates need an air of argumentative-ness and a trading of opinions in a slightly more ruthless way, otherwise it'd be boring

I agree with you Lindgren in that manners are nice as are people who are a little considerate (like Biggles) but there needs to be a degree of healthy skepticim, as Memo put bluntly

There, I win

Ever consider some people just cant be arsed enough to bother because it usually results in a pointless arguement?

I've met the occasional nicey-nice person in my life-journey and, to be honest, within 2 minutes of talking to them I've wanted to smash their face with a breeze block. I can't stand people like that. Happy-clappy nutjobs.
