Not sure how public this was, girl takes up smoking, mother tells her smoking will kill her and not to do it, girl smokes in bathroom and covers herself in fabric-freshener to hide the smell from her, ends up poisoning herself and dies.

Now mother has put blame on herself somewhat, saying she would have let her smoke in front of her now. Well, yes.

It's rather tragic (poor girl died fitting and foaming at the mouth) and yet strangely and awkwardly funny. There's not enough irony in the news really.

Basically, if you're going to be a rebel, please read the label correctly. Poor girl.

Fair enough. Also, how come only "good, kind, and caring" people die? Why don't any evil, dirty, scumbags ever die instead?

'Tis indeed. My point was, she wasn't much of a loss and the 6 billion was just to draw attention to how insignificant she is/was.

Ok, it was badly phrased.

The girl was a fool and in many ways she deserved to die. However, you said the death of one person in a world of 6 billion is insignificant and I dodn't agree. In this particular case it may mot be a great loss but there are plenty of young, innocent people that die not through being fools.

Is that clearer?

I agree that she was very foolish but that's not really a great outlook on life. Maybe she did deserve to die but there are plenty of other people that die unfairly so I can't say that I go along with that final statement.

"Ban this sick filth"

Or the famous one sided Daily Mail polls:

"Should dirty foreigners be allowed to eat our poor sick donkeys?
Phone __ to vote Yes or ___ to vote No."

Yet there will be no rush to ban aerosol fresheners.

Ah well, one dead, not much lost there, quite amusing really. If she was stupid enough to do it then she deserved to die. Harsh? No, but what is the loss of one life in a world of 6+ billion people?

I'd imagine she sprayed the substance excessively over her clothes and the space around her clothes.

Aerosol abuse in an enclosed environment etc.

Being as it was the bathroom, I'd imagine it was quite a humid environment making the use of the aerosol worse.
