It's 22:36 as I write this, and outside (my window's open because it's nice and warm) there are about 4-5 kids "playing". By playing I mean screaming at each other and kicking a football. And by kids, I mean between five and ten years old.
Little kids outside at half-ten at night playing. And they're not kids that live nearby either, as in a few doors away.
What the hell kind of parents let their small children out at this time of night?
"Got nar school tomorrow innit?" says the eldest (the irony of that)
Oh well that's ok then, what was I thinking?
Of course you can play outside at nearly quarter to eleven because there's no school tomorrow!
*slaps forehead* Silly me.
Yet were these feral babycrims to be murdered and taped for internet childsexsnuff flicks, the parents would sob and plead on national television about how "we've been robbed of our li'le angel! he never done no 'arm to noone".
Pfffft, so we lose another deliquent.
*looks out window*
Nope, world's still turning.
I heard an adult voice summon the girl just after I'd walked past, but I didn't look back. I really, really wish I had said something to the parent now. Or kicked-off Ninja stylee.
EDIT: Oh, and lest we forget the two little boys that asked me if I wanted some "beef" outside the local 'offie'. Why am I so unthreatening to kids? That's not even right - they pick on me!!! Not that I want to scare kids or anything, but that's still not right...like cats chasing dogs.

Sure, kids in that sort of situation need help. Kids shouting "Mam, give me some f______ money for tabs" (no older than 10) are the ones I really couldnt give a good god damn about...
[edit] And don't ask me how they were going to buy them. I have no idea.
But it's what I had the privilige of overhearing from a burberry clad stereo thief in training this afternoon.

Have to agree. There's kids across the road I'd like to take a carpet stanley too.

You seem to be focusing on the parents and forgeting about the child. The child has nothing wrong yet it would be the child that suffers most.

I agree. Same round our way.
"So what if it was your child who got snatched, how would you feel?"
I'd be a damn better parent and it wouldn't happen.
