It's 22:36 as I write this, and outside (my window's open because it's nice and warm) there are about 4-5 kids "playing". By playing I mean screaming at each other and kicking a football. And by kids, I mean between five and ten years old.
Little kids outside at half-ten at night playing. And they're not kids that live nearby either, as in a few doors away.
What the hell kind of parents let their small children out at this time of night?
"Got nar school tomorrow innit?" says the eldest (the irony of that)
Oh well that's ok then, what was I thinking?
Of course you can play outside at nearly quarter to eleven because there's no school tomorrow!
*slaps forehead* Silly me.
Yet were these feral babycrims to be murdered and taped for internet childsexsnuff flicks, the parents would sob and plead on national television about how "we've been robbed of our li'le angel! he never done no 'arm to noone".
Pfffft, so we lose another deliquent.
*looks out window*
Nope, world's still turning.
And there's no quick and easy solution, no matter what any politician may say. We, as a nation, were told up until post-WWII to consider our duties to society. Then, it was pointed out (correctly) that we have a lot of rights in society too, and they shouldn't be denied to us.
Now (IMHO) things have gone too far the other way; society (such as it is after Thatcher's "There is no such thing as society" culture of the 80's) is constantly yammering after it's rights, and no emphasis is placed on duties (such as the duty to raise a child rather than just popping them out like frogspawn).
And if it isn't addressed soon? We can look forward to an authoritarian government that removes the few rights we do have altogether, and turns the nation into a joyless institute for the criminally stupid.
All in all, it would be no more than we deserve on current evidence...
> knock em up with a crowbar.
Woah, you can do that?
I care a lot if I'd be a good parent or not, means a hefty bunch to me.. I know I'm pretty righteous at times, really gotta make sure I control that etc...
But I guess some people just don't care at all? I don't know. I'm not even sure if I'll ever truly be ready to raise a kid, so I'm just placing it mainly down to circumstance, finance and stability in general. Even my mental stability, you know? I've been good for a long time now, but there's still the chance.
I don't know if I'm too self-critical and it doesn't even matter if you're good enough to raise a child and all that matters is the life, or if well, it's important to raise a human being to the highest standard that person is capable of.. not so much intelligence and wage, but of respect for life, themselves, and understand all the important things in life, like experimentation, learning and just having fun.. and I guess the respon..
Ok I'll shut up.
