That's ridiculous. The equivalent of writing Edman's goal off as a simple long-ranger.
What was so impressive about Rooney's goal was how he cut across it, giving it not only the perfect power but vicious curl too. And unlike Gerrard, Edman and Safri, he didn't take a touch to control it - just positioned himself and hit it flawlessly.
Further out (I think) and had to be much more accurate. It had to be about as far into the corner as you can go to get past Given, and it was.
