Radeon 9800 pro 256mb
1GB DDR Ram
Amd Athlon 2600+ 1.9ghz
What I'd like to find out is, will my proccesor hold the PC back from it's full potential? (As in, the lack of 2ghz+ will hold the Graphics card back from running as good as it could be?)
Thankyou.
These are:
Athlon XP 2600+ T-bred (L2 256KB) 2083MHz 166MHz 12.5x
Athlon XP 2600+ T-bred (L2 256KB) 2133MHz 133MHz 16x
If there is no setting in the bios you'll have to set those jumpers you were talking about to change the bus. The multiplyer option should be in your bios. Set this to 12.5 or 16 depending on which bus speed you have chose.
NOTE: These bus speeds are doubled therefore you should be using 266 or 333.
I had the same problem with my old athlon chip
it's your cashe which is the problem.
you could try overclocking, by increasing the voltage, but this is dangerous to your processor.
I think someone already posted that, soz if you did
Sorry matey, thats as fast as it's going to get, but should be fine with half life 2, is's only about a year and a bit old anyway that processor.
So I've flashed my bios to the latest version but that has made no change, my 2600 is still running at 1.92ghz.
Problem is I have no floppies available to boot it. Is it possible to just burn the flashing program and the bios file to a CD?
Or does it need re-writable media in order to perform.
Anyway in the Bios I cannot find a FSB setting, the closest thing I can find is something called "Host Frequency", this isnt the FSB setting is it?
I've noticed In my mobo manual that I can change the FSB via jumpers on the board. The 4 settings I can use are: 200mhz, 266mhz, 333mhz and 400mhz. Could one of these jumpers being set to the wrong speed be my problem?
I recomend going into BIOS and changing the FSB until you get 2.0 or 2.1...
(See what it is before, remember it. Then go up one at a time, so you don't overshoot the overclock [:P]).
By the way my motherboard is an asrock k7s8x.
