"Matsushita has revealed a new version of the Nintendo Gamecube, which was seen in prototype state for the first time at this year's E3 show in Los Angeles.

The console is slightly larger than the regular Gamecube casing and is silver in colour with a digital display on top. The unit will support the playback of DVDs, video-CDs and audio CDs, while still containing the Gamecube's core hardware technology to play games.

Fumio Otsubo, Matsushita's managing director said: "Our hybrid digital audio visual product will be superior to PlayStation2." As yet, neither a price or release date has been confirmed for the unit."

It won't let me display the picture but go to www.consoledomain.co.uk and it will be in the news section -it looks totally different to the normal GameCube!!!!

Matsushita are making a Gamecube with DVD player built in!!

It is very ugly, I would rather get a seperate DVD player and a normal Gamecube.

Well the PS2's DVD player has got a bad name for itself, maybe they don't want to make the same mistake?

But at least people can have the option of getting one without a DVD player or a re-designed GameCube with a DVD player!

I don't think GC needs a DVD player. By the time it is released, the majority of households that interested in watching films will already have one - whether it be stand alone, on PS2 or PC.

I think Nintendo are right to keep the cost of the machine down by not including one.

I don't think they should make it bright sparkly silver - it looks tacky

God damn! i just looked at that link. Bloody hell is it ugly!

Originally the DVD player was only gonna come out in Japan. There's a chance it may come out in the US but it aint got a chance in hell of coming out here.
