But..
My friend said that he don't think I'd get anything for doing just a year. Is this true or does it depend on the course and University?
If it is true I may as well leave now and work for a bit, rather than keep going to uni for nothing.

I suppose that has some influence.
One plan was to go back home next year a work for a year or so while I decide which course is for me for sure then do it at my first choice uni.
Second plan is to get settled in a job, then get married and have kids within 3 years.
That doesn't help at all. Just thought you might like to know.
Maybe it's the university itself that's not right for you, not higher education as a whole?
I don't see it as failing since I've passed everything so far with less than minimum work. If I had failed however, that would be different.
I'd rather quit after 1 year, than to live like this for the next two.
I'm still doing better than average and when I apply myself I can get 90-100% in essays etc. I'm about B/C+ grade just now which is 70-80%, not bad I suppose.
Though, I need Bs in everything so I can go to Germany next year. I'm doing all my essays just now actually but work/commuting is SUCH a pain.

You'll get nothing. Just a nagging feeling in your brain that you'll later identify as 'guilt at failure'.
Only joking. If you want to quit, do it. No point waiting until the end of the year, it'll just be a waste of money.
Don't think you get anything for one year, but if you do over half the course, or a certain amount of credits, you get a Certificate of Higher Education, which should allow me to negotiate my way onto the later stages of another science course when I go back eventually.

that's not laziness, that's buffoonery.
Though, that could suggest you being crap.
If you hate it then I'd quit.
I love my course but I'm annoyed I can't give it 100% due to work/laziness
