I cannae be arsed with fiddling about to try and make it sound good. Although the bottom skin of one of my Rack Toms was horrible, so now I live without that.
I had a sock at the bottom of my floor tom in my old kit though :D
They're birch shells, so they sound very deep and not very...nice, really.
That's one of the reasons I want the kit which I linked to and showed you on MSN; that's a Maple kit, and they just sound so much nicer.
I have to sellotape teatowels inside the skins of my drums to make 'em sound respectable - different eh?
I currently have K Dark Hi-Hats (which I really like), A Custom Fast Crash (which I also really like), Z Custom Medium Crash (which I like, not as much as the other two though) and a ZBT Ride (Nasty I tell ye).
If only I could be bothered to ever tune my drums properly, it all might sound fairly good together. But oh well.
For genereal sounds, such as a piercing crash or a crisp hi-hat, I'd choose a SAian, but if I wanted say, a really dark crash (not in colour, obviously) then I'd probably get a Zildjian.
My mate has a Zildian K Dark Crash (made me think of an example) and it is truly magnificent.
He also has a 24" ride, what's up with that?
I like Paiste rides though. I want one. But all my other cymbals are Zildjian. That's be so uncool to have different cymbals... Tyuh.
If you want something loud but still want to ride on it (hahaha) then they're are lots of crash/rides, but I don't like 'em. They smell.
They sound quite average, but I just seem to smash them to shreds.
I got some with my first drum kit, and by the time I wanted a new kit, there was cracks everywhere, huge chunks had fell out etc.
That splash I have if damn loud for such a small thing though. It's nearly as loud as my ride, which is a complete female dog :P
Not a top of the range Paiste, as they cost ridiculous amounts of money.
Stagg are actually pretty good, it's just that they're made in China and not America, and therefore are much, much cheaper.
But it's one of those terrible Stagg things. Never used it.
How much was it?
