Yeah due to the fact that I don't come on here every day I think the day by day formula won't work, so it's gonna go like this: Each week I will take three suggestions. This is fair, as it allows enough time for people to get each song and listen to it enough times to fully appreciate it. Feedback is wanted, don't give it out of ten just give a general opinions, and then the most widely enjoyed songs will be highlighted so hopefully a long way down the line if this thread works then people can just pick off the best songs easily.

Week One:
Flock recommends - Elliot Smith - Between The Bars
Stryke recommends - Death Cab for Cutie - We looked Like Giants
Mattributé recommends - Bright Eyes - A Perfect Sonnet
That's your lot for this week. Get downloading and let us know what you think.

Don't you see?!
Oberst would fit with no-one but Bright Eyes.
The genius is in the lyrics.
LISTEN to the lyrics.
Then you will understand all.

Stryke recommends - Death Cab for Cutie - We looked Like Giants
Starts well with simple drum and guitar in sync and a rythym, briefly breaks into life before singer comes in and the music fades to a very basic chugging beat, singer stops and a good base kicks in again which reminded me of the theme tune to M.A.S.H.
After 2 and a half minutes it starts dying as it moves away from the opening baseline and brings in a piano which is killed by the drum beat placed over it. Overall it's best moments are whenever the music takes centre stage but it's a bit stretched out for something that isn't as ambient as it might like to think. 6/10

Mattributé recommends - Bright Eyes - A Perfect Sonnet
Singer sounds like Fergal Sharkey of The Undertones with a faltering vibrato which sometimes feels forced, but it gets annoying after a while which just kills the song as it's too distracting. There's a good song in here somewhere under a better voice. 4/10

Music is a lot like fancying a bird.

Only you know why you like the music, and trying to get someone else to like it, if it isn't their thing, is impossible. It strikes a chord deep in your soul and resonates like a cold pint of fosters on a summers day.

But if everyone starts to like the music, it becomes 'slapper' music, and you begin to lose interest. e.g. the charts.

Occasionally it's nice to have a fling with long forgotten music, to remind you of different times.

There's a good chance I could be talking complete crap.

The moral of the story? I have the finest taste in music.

Oh, and my comments

Between the Bars

Can't see this still getting played in the future (or, indeed, after today), but it's a fairly good song. Kind of thing if it came on in Shuffle, I wouldn't turn it off.

I'll get onto Strykes suggestion now...
