No shocks in the afternoon today. Askew squeaked through, the Chinese and Japanese players will be a little disappointed that they didn't put up more of a fight.

Jenkins V Davis could have been a bit closer but Davis just missed too many doubles.

Last of the first round game tonight. Roy V Burnett should be good and hope to see the return to form of Dudbridge.

Mardle just doesn't seem to perform like he knows he can, he used to play well in one tournament and then bad in the next etc but now he just seems to play bad.

I thought by now he'd have a title to his name like Lloyd etc have managed over the past few years but I think his time is fast slipping away.

Quite easy wins for Beaton and Priestley. Wade didn't play well but he is through to the 2nd round of the World Championships for the first time so maybe he'll relax a bit.

I'm really disappointed that Mardle went out. Not only does that mean no more Mardle at the World Championships but he won't get that wild card for the Premier League.

Heh, Hamilton wanted 5 and Welding wanted 4. Hamilton read Welding's score, hit double 2 and bust his score. :)

I wouldn't call Sams and Monk going out as shocks, as neither of them have done that well in the World Championships. Last years semi finalist, Wayne Jones, is through and Hamilton through too.

Barney looked a bit wobbly in the first few legs but came through OK, Warriner is not nearly as good as he used to be.

Lloyd vs Barney will be the match of the 2nd round, think Barney will edge it.

Warriner got pretty crushed. He isn't as good as he was though. Lloyd and Barneveld meeting in the 2nd round will be some game. Lewis looked in decent form as well.

Bates and Walsh going out are a bit of a surprise to me especially Bates who has seen some good form this year.

Shame about Anderson I always like it when the oldies play like they used to.

It's a shame about Bob Anderson having shoulder problems due to a slipped disc a little while back. I think that's what they said anyway.

He produced only glimpses of classic Bob but Webster was pretty punishing.

Thought Part was in trouble there but he managed to squeeze through.

Taylor had a walk in the park after his oppponent only managed about a 78 average, really wanted him to win at least 1 leg and I thought he was going to do it but he missed 3 double 4's for the last leg and Taylor stepped in for the win.

Part was pretty close to going out there. Managed to squeak through in extra legs in the 5th set.

No problems for Taylor or Manley. Part V Mason should be a good game in the 2nd round.
