I'm getting visions of 3D glasses all over again here, but Lucas is planning to, yes, you've guessed it, re-release his Star Wars films allllll over again, but this time put them in a new 3D format.

Admittedly I'd love to see a proper 3D film, but he's seriously, seriously killing his films. It's like taking the Mona Lisa and repainting all the colours again, or painting a hoodie over her and goth make up so she's more updated.

And no, I don't believe he's 'ruining my childhood' and stripping me of all that whatsit that people go on about.. I just think he's really pushing it. Star Wars was a great 70's science fiction trashy film. The sequels were excellent, Han Solo is a great character and the series has some wonderfully quoteable lines.

But God.. please... Lucas, do something different?

I heard on the radio also, that he's refering to Episode 3 as 'Titanic in space'.

I'm so afraid of growing up. Terrified that I'd end up like that.

The article about it on Yahoo seems to suggest he's doing it to launch a new film era of mainstream 3D movies (aside from raking in the cash with a re-release as usual).

Because all these big names have got behind it - it seems a lot less naff to the studio exec's this time around.

A mate of mine went to see The Polar Express at the iMax recently, said it was the most amazing experience. Apparently it makes you feel like reaching out and trying to grab the snow, and punch Tom Hanks.
