Once again thanks to all who took part and look out for more competitions!
*********************
We'll run this one over the next two weeks. Somebody might need to prod me in two weeks time to choose the winner.
I would like you to go to http://Topaddress.com.
There's a link in the left side strip if you need to go back and forth.
There you will find our lovely selection of domain names.
Pick a domain or some domains which you think would be good for a nice profitable enterprise, and describe what you would do with them if you were an entrepreneur.
The single best entry will win an Extra Gameaday prize.
You can enter as many times as you like.
IMPORTANT
1. Try to get Unique Selling Points into your plan!
2. Work out why you think it would make money.
3 .State clearly how long it would take and what the difficulties would be.
I've no idea how this will go, but good luck.
And NO, we are not likely to use the winning entry, this is just the stuff of financial fantasy.
Brillmusic.com will be THE place to go for all musical tastes. All the latest music news will be available as well as a release chart, downloadable interviews that can be viewed in Real or QuickTime, and a section containing lyrics.
Forgot to buy a song when it came out? Can’t find it in the shops? Well then an online-store could be set up so people can add to their music collection, the prices shall be VERY reasonable and delivery ‘ll be free! The range of CDs has to be extensive from rap to disco, pop to rock, hip-hop to retro. Yup, you’ve gotta cater for everyone!
A bucket load of polls and competitions would be a great enticer (Umm, is that a word?!) for people. With a chance to win free CD’s regularly. (Not like Gad i.e. Everyday but fairly often) Quizzes to test peoples musical knowledge and of course MP3’s. Easily downloaded.
With a whole load of other junk as well. Like, Tour dates links to artist’s official website and some downloadable movies! These could be filmed at certain bands/artists gigs and would just be there to whet people’s appetite. And even maybe a "Where are they now?" Weekly feature that finds out where one hit wonder bands and 80’s people are now and what they’re doing. (Like Eiffel 65 for example. Da ba dee da ba die, da ba dee da ba die... :-)) Some discussion boards (:-)) and a massive picture gallery.
2. Work out why you think it would make money
Well it’s obvious really! With a website that caters for everyone no matter what their musical taste is it would get loads of hits! People never turn down a chance to win anything (Look at the success of GAD!) The MP3s would also be a great traffic puller. Although having MP3s may contradict having an online store! Maybe a trial run with the store and if it’s successful enough then stick it in full time as well as the MP3s.
Lyrics are always popular on the net. I constantly find myself going to lyrics.com to prove a friend wrong. Sometimes however the songs I wanna know the lyrics to aren’t there. For the lyrics pages at brillmusic.com I’d have 3 professional lyric writers whose job it is to get all the latest songs lyrics down. Surfers could also send in lyrics and would be rewarded for their trouble (A CD If they’re accurate)
3. State clearly how long it would take and what the difficulties would be
Hmmm… It would probably take quite a long time to build this site. Perhaps up to 6 months. It is such a damn obvious URL though that there would be tons of hits, so the time that would have been put in would not have been in vain!
Difficulties: Quite a few of these unfortunately.
The store is easily the most obvious. Proper encryption would be needed to make it secure and stock would have to come in from somewhere. I dunno what you have to do to encrypt something like this so I have no idea how difficult or easy it’d be.
The next problem would be... Getting staff. I’m sure it wouldn’t be that difficult but then it’ll take them quite some time to get it all set up. With a decent search needed and well over 500 pages for artists needed... The lyrics wouldn’t be too difficult to get. (We could just nick them from... Uh, I mean we could lawfully use another websites for the original ones!) But getting the rest of them may take some time.
Hmmm... Office space! You can’t (well you can but when running a proper website with professional staff and everything it’d be difficult) run a website from home. So Brillmusic Towers Inc. would have to be acquired. And then we’d have to make sure that all the staff could get to it easily!
Last but definitely not the least annoying... Money!
We’d need investors to help getting it set up and then stock would need to be bought regularly. A sizeable grant would be needed.
However, if these problems are dealt with then I think that Brillmusic.com could be one of the best music websites on the web!
Brillmusic.co.uk
Just a redirection to brillmusic.com would be needed here! :-)

I cannot think of one??? What could possibly be wrong with selling your granny?

For a second then I thought you were talking to me...
> Yes
I'm better now.
Judging by your tagline, I'm not too sure.
"Gone again, I dunno." - Future reference. ;0)
I would sell personalised jeans on my website
I would firstly buy relatively inexpensive, but high quality jeans from a supplier. I would then takes orders off the internet from the consumers and ask them how they would like their jeans personalised. I would give them a variety of options like the writing required, the style of writing wanted (took from some samples) and where on the jeans they want their writing positioned.
I would sell these jeans at a relatively large percentage more than what i paid for the jeans, but i will still keep the price below most high street prices.
I think this idea will work well as the demand for jeans at the current time is very high. I think that personalising the jeans would attract customers to buying my jeans as the modern public like to be different, and no two pairs of the jeans off my site would be the same.
I could also provde a facility to send jeans to friends or relatives as gifts for birthdays or other special occasions. The customer can add special messages for the recipient.
I would need to get some money to start up my businees, but i believe that with my idea i would be able to gain enough support from cdifferent companies that would provide enough to start the company.
Another problem i might have are people applying for jeans with offensive or unappropriate messages. I could solve this by making the ordering system recognise these offensive words before the order is processed.
All in all I personally think a company like this would work perfectly within the uk and worldwide
Okay, this one uses 'cafeuk.com'.
I don't know how to start this off but basically you have restaurants in town centre shopping areas, ones that are almost 100% pedestrianised.
You have an Internet site 'cafeuk.com' and from this website, shop workers in one of the surrounding areas can place orders for food over the internet if they don't have time to go out and get lunch.
You have a 'Delivery Boy' who scoots or mopeds round the area from the near by restaurant delivering the food. Simple. Of course she/he would HAVE to have a catchy horn ‘beep’ or tune so people would recognise him/her. Delivery charges could be quite low as you’re only delivering to the local area and serving lots of customers at once.
Look - Workers Order - You Make Food - You Deliver Food - You get paid, quite handsomely I might add! – Everyone’s Happy!
You could also have computer desks at your actual restaurant which people could sit at and browse the web during their 'In House' lunch.
The websites homepage would have a list of areas that were included in the Internet Cafe thingy like 'Solihull' and 'Linton' etc. Shop workers in the area could then pick their area from the list, put in their password and order the food.
Personally I would start off in a small, pedestrianised Town Centre of close proximity. After a reputation was built I might open another one.
The only problem that MIGHT occur is ‘prank’ orders but this could easily be combated by allocating local shops passwords to put into the web browser.
I think it would be quite a success. It is a great and very unique innovation in my mind and could very well be successful with the local shops. The food served could include sandwiches, rolls, baguettes, and a selection of drinks hot and cold. The prices would be competitive and the food could be VERY fresh.
Of course there would be a phone number as well, but if you’re working on the net, why stop?!
