I only need to connect one PC via wirless, everything else need to run through Ethernet. I bought some stuff last week which I under-estimated what it would take.

Do I need a bridge for the one wirless device? I have had a look around and bridges seem a little on the expensive side for what I actually need one for.

What would be the cheapest method to get up and running with a 4 port ADSL gateway with the ability to bridge to one wirless device without any homeless people trying to sex on my hand with their diseasse infected peni?

PORA BISHA!

As I said, buy a wireless router, as most have 4 port wired connectivity in the back as well, then you can use it normally for your main pc, and wireless for your laptop.

Just have to make sure the router you chose has this, and then get a compatible network card for you laptop.

That's what I'm doing!

I think I've confused you...

I'll leave the main PC wired to a wired/wireless router, and get a wireless card for the laptop. Sorted!

When I can be bothered.

If you're already wired, you probably just need a wired 4 port router.
If you want wireless, you'll need to cheap wireless cards and a cheapo wireless router, preferably all of the same make.

Well the point of me doing this is so that I don't have to have the big PC on, I'm trying to save power!

That's what I do at the moment however, just it's wired.

Cheapest way I found was simply to get two wireless network cards (I got two 54mbps cards for about 50-60 for the pair).

Simply set up a home network and then use the windows wizards to set up Internet Connection Sharing. Just leave the directly linked pc on and the other pc, bar occasional problems, will be able to access the net etc through it.

You're with NTL aren't you? Cable?

That'll work then.

EDIT - The Netgear one is ADSL only, so it'd be useless for anyone using Cable.

Will this work? I might get this as it's cheap.

I hate wireless routers, I can actually feel the waves transmitting porn whilst getting off.

It's gone down in price??

I whole-heartedly recommend that Netgear unit - it is bloody excellent. I've had 2 now (left my old one at my Parent's when I moved out as they needed it for the Lappy) and they really are top-notch. Easy to set up, very reliable, very customiseable and looks good too :D

It's also a modem too, which means it plugs straight into the wall and all your wired devices plug straight into that - much easier than having to connect a separate modem and router. All in one = all you need.

Seriously, if anyone is in the market for a wireless solution right now, get the Netgear DG834G!
