Well basicly, can someone please tell me what ADSL is? I have BT Broadband. The Wireless Router i'm getting to play Live says:

"Please note : This router doesn't have a built-in ADSL modem. You would need an external Ethernet ADSL modem for this router to work on ADSL in the UK."


I've had BT Broadband for a good while now, and never read or seen anything about it saying it's ADSL

Well if you're on BT Broadband, you're on ADSL, simple as that. ADSL is just the technical (and proper) term for Broadband through the phone line.

Does your Broadband modem plug into a USB port on your PC? If so, it won't work with the router, and therefore, you should have got a Modem/router combo, like the Netgear DG834G.

How do I know if BT Broadband's ADSL ??? It said it won't work on ADSL in the UK without a thingy-ma-jig

If it came from BT, it'll be a USB ADSL modem, incompatible (directly) with Xbox Live.

Just looked at an ADSL Modem online to see what they are. It looks like mine... Just looked at my Broadband 'Speedtouch' purple thing that glows when you're connected to broadband. It says ADSL on one of the lights. I have an ADSL modem I take it?

What it's saying is that because it isnt an adsl router you cant plug it straight into the adsl socket in the wall and have it route the internet connection directly between your computers.
