Well basicly, can someone please tell me what ADSL is? I have BT Broadband. The Wireless Router i'm getting to play Live says:
"Please note : This router doesn't have a built-in ADSL modem. You would need an external Ethernet ADSL modem for this router to work on ADSL in the UK."
I've had BT Broadband for a good while now, and never read or seen anything about it saying it's ADSL

BT will probably overcharge you for inferior goods.
I suggest you get a refund on that router and use the same website for a Netgear DG834G - thiss will connect anything and everything, even wireless.
Then get a Netgear WGE101 Wireless Bridge and connect your Xbox to it. This is 802.11G speed, which is much faster and more reliable than 802.11B.
These two products are all you need.

There's your problem. Unless your BT USB modem can also connect via Ethernet, you have a problem.
