Looking at upcoming games such as Devil May Cry and Onimusha, its great to see the survival horror genre making great progress. Its also nice to see Capcom trying to think of new games rather than constantly milk the same ones like StreetFighter and Resident Evil (although the second can be forgiven as it is an excellent story that unfolds more and more with each game).

If the stories in these 2 games are as great as Resident Evil's ongoing plot, then they are going to be very special indeed !

The characters are very well designed and the effects and graphics are looking superb. I've seen footage of both games on the DVD's in magazines and they both have me really drooling to play them !
With these 2, plus the ongoing Resident Evil games coming out, I wonder what other titles of this genre Capcom have up their sleeve !

It'll also be nice if other companies start looking into this genre and hopefully come up with their own ideas to add in. Extermination is looking like a game of this catagory although Sony are trying to deny it is survival horror, more of a panic / action / horror.
This is another game high on my wants list cause it looks an exciting game thats gonna keep players hearts pumping with its horror style story and pressuring gameplay. Afterall, Sony are quick to say that its not going to be an adventure like game where you have plenty of time to mess around examining things and working out puzzles. Its going to be all about getting things done fast and having to rush along while not knowing what could jump out on you.

In my opinion, this is an excellent idea ! Because plenty of players when they face a challenge for the first time like to take their time and be very cautious around areas they think enemies could be lurking. But to be forced to get through certain areas fast while still having that same "where are they !?" feeling is going to be one hell of an experience !

Roll on future survival horror titles ! :-)

Last time I raised this topic, it ended up with The Game being all Christian and offended (my response? Forgive me), and it degenerated into the benefits and disadvantages of organised religion vs Gnosticism.

So tread carefully.

I love Survival Horror games . DMC looks truly amazing, IMO it could even be a MGS2 better when its released later this year. RE:CVX will be ok but seeing as I own it on the DC iam not too bothered about it. I have seen the footage on the PSW DVD and to me it doesnt look any different to the DC version. There is only about 10-15 mins of extra video footage, I dont think there is any new guns e.t.c. Onimusha is another good title. I have heard that it may be a little short but most of the games in the genre are short e.g the RE series. Extermination looks good aswell, I would like to see how Sony do against the Daddies of Survival Horror Capcom. I havent heard anything about Run Like Hell.

I cant wait for RE4 or what ever they call it as the RE series is one of my favourite of all time. I also hope they can bring Dino Crisis 3 out aswell as that is another good series. Also Silent Hill 2 could be classied as Survivial Horror.

The PS2 will be full of Survivial Horror games but all of them are going to be excellent titles.

I would love Shigsy to go away from making fat plumbers and elves and try to make the scariest horror game ever... now that would be something.

Have to agree with you there, matey. One other title only recently announced is RLH - Run Like Hell.

So, that's five Survival Horror titles to get this year, plus anumber of other great titles. Bye-bye savings, hello gaming nirvana. %-p
