Gad was also the name of one of the sons of Jacob. Gad was one of the 10 sons who was born to Leia, the wife which Jacob didn't really like that much :-)
The others who were bron to Leia are: Reauben, Dan, Levi, Issacher, Judah, Zebulin, Napthalie, Asher and Simeon.
Benjamin and Joseph were both born to Jacobs other wife, Rachel. rachel was the one whom he truly loved, he was tricked into marrying Leia by his uncle Laban.
(For some unknown reason I'm brilliant at the Old Testament but absolute pants at the New one!)
