Got a PC mic but XP doesn't seem to automatically recognise it.

Any way I can install it manually? There's no cd or anything, just the actual hardware.

Help, please?

It doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot.

I've jacked the mic volume up in volume control.

Dunno what I'm doing wrong, stupid hardware.

You don't need to 'add new hardware'. A Mic is just plug & play, as it were.

Just like you don't need to install speakers via 'Add ne hardware'.

Seems I've got two ports to put a mic into, joyous.

One of them better work or I'll sue SR.

What is the port called where you plug the mic into?

I know its the little pink one but does it have a name?

I'm trying to 'add new hardware' in control pannel.

Urgh this sucks copious amounts of ass.

Obviously make sure it's plugged into the 'Mic' socket and not an output one.

Then just double click on the speaker settings in the corner taskbar. you should be able to allow the Mic/Line-in to work from there. If the option isn't immediately there, just try advanced settings or something like that.
