"Frances The Mute"

Opinions of this album, anyone?

As expected, I don't think it's as good as the first album. I'm not saying it's a bad album (it's better than most things out there) it's just Deloused was such a difficult CD to better.

If your planning to buy Frances then don't expect it to be the same as Deloused. They've made that album already, there's no point in doing it again. Instead it's a much darker, more sinister album with all the things you love from The Mars Volta. There's some truly fantastic songs and some catchy Spanish lyrics mixed in to spice things up a bit more.

The more I listed to it, the more I love it (as with Deloused).

Got this album a few days ago.

I'm loving 'The Widow' and a few others as well.

My only gripe with the album is the sheer amount of random 'noise' gaps between songs.

Gets annoying.

I'm so glad you guys have bummed this band for so long... excellent :) Loving it all so far.

The Widow makes me want to scream and attack someone.

Therefore i am clearly not mentally stable enough to buy this album lol

It was great so much fun and such a good time, i'd be really jealous too but luckily i did go and so i'm not :P

Not only that my hoodie is keeping me nice and warm and seems to attract women which is a bonus. :D

Will definatly see them again when they come back to the uk.

I love the actual song part (you know after the 4 and half mins of noise), which is kinda annoying as i have to keep fast ffwding to get to it. Wish I saw them live (well jealous - sounds fantastic)

i like the 4 and a half minutes of chimes and rings, i like the song it's pretty cool.

The best part is the plucking and strange rythem around 10 and a half mins in to the song just before the build up.

Get the album it's well worth it, it needs a good listern too all in a row to get a really good feel for it.

Ive just heard the song Frances the mute, on the widow single. Erm it is very frustrating. It starts with about 4 minutes of almost unlistenable ringing/clanging noise and then kicks in to a fantastic song, so very good. then it goes all quiet and odd again, with whispered lyrics going into an instrumental outro.

So odd but great but annoying all in one track - sums up the mars volta i suppose.
