I think it should be Strachan from Coventry. Although they have been relegrated from the premiership this season, he has Utd in his blood after playing there for most of his carrer. Before you ask i am not a Utd or Coventry Fan i am an Everton Fan.
He has done a good job at coventry, bought players that many people had not heard of and they have turned into great players! For example Hadji.
For a team who have very little funds they have done very well to stay in the premiership this long.
Strachan is a great tacticion, and has a lot of emotion for the game. Just like Ferguson had when he came to Utd in those early days and look at what he has achieved now!
Many people have said that the next manager should be someone who has achieved something. Managers like Capello, Van Gaal, Martin O'Neill and even LIPPI!
But i believe that Strachan should be the next Manchester Utd Manager. He is like Martin O'Neill he has heart for very club he manages.

Celtic better keep Martin O'Niell - in one season he's done supremely.

Strachan!! They'd be stupid to go for anyone else. I've got a contentious issue for you, Celtic managers are better than Anglo-Saxons.

Strachan? No no, then they'd have even more success! I hope someone who hasn't got a clue, and United have the same mishaps as Chelsea have done over the past couple of years - at least Watford now have Vialli! 2-1 for them to go up! If Coventry don't go straight back up, and Man United want him, hes as good as signed.

I think the next United Manager will have to be someone who is very well respected, especailly by the players. Someone like Cantona or Schmeichel. But it would be a gamble putting them straight into managment. but some players have flourished when they have gone straight into management. Look at Vialli.

I cant see strachen going to Utd, he aint really achieved anything as a manager. Personally my choice for the job has to be................Diego Maradona. The guy is a genius.

Yeah, as no10 said (as much as I hate to agree with a gooner), like Christian Gross. He's a muppet.
I am in fact a spurs fan (as you may have guessed), and I'll be one of the first to admit that Christian Gross was totally s***.

I wouldn`t say Strachan has United in his blood or that he is capable of keeping success going at the club. He didn`t achieve much as a player at Old Trafford and I doubt he would be welcomed back by their fans. The job could end up going to a foreign coach and although nobody mentions Arsene Wenger ,I think he is the best manager for the job. Others mentioned are Fabio Capello, Alan Curbishly, Steve Mclaren, David O`Leary and Bayern coach Otmar Heitzfeld.
