If anyone knows French, can you tell me what is the meaning of "Quantum mutatus ab illo!"?

Having just looked for it, i've found it means " How changed we are from what we were". Just out of interest was Latin ever a spoken language, i was told it was only used for quotes or similar.

Ok Guys, stop pouncing on me!

I assumed it was French, because I quoted these words from the French writer Guy De Mauppasant's story "A Question of Latin". I did not give it a thought that it could be Latin... ;)

Those who are halfway through their course in Latin should post the meaning of the words here.

Latin doesn't help with foreign languages.

My old school force latin on us from te age of 7.

I struggled with French and Spanish up to AS and GCSE level.

Fine then, Latin makes up a third of the language (actaully, I'm lying).

English is a stupid example to take though, it's made up of practically every language ever devised.

A lot of English words are still derived from Latin anyway.
As are a lot of European languages.

You tell me I'm wrong.

I may have worded it wrong originally, but I'm right.
Again.

Alright then, I'll take English as an example.

Celtic + Teutonic influences (Anglo Saxon) + Latin

Hoorah.

What, that it's derived from French, which was brought here by the Normans, who are descended from those of Gaul, which was a widely Latin speaking region?

That's pretty much it.
