And about *&^&ing time quite honestly; the last decent album I bought was The Zutons and that was in October...
pickups (the things under the strings that "pick up" the sound) can be either 'single coil' or 'humbucker' (double coil).
A humbucker is basically two single-coil pickups that are wired together with the signal out of phase, which cancels out the buzz/hum that they emit, 'bucking' it.
A delay effect simply takes the sound that's going through it and holds it back for a set amount of time before releasing it.
eg a if you used a 1 second delay and played a note, that note would be played again 1 second later.
Omar has 4 delay units, a Line6 DL4, Boss DD-5, ElectroHarmonix Memory Man and a Roland Space Echo. He uses a lot of crazy delay as well as using it subtly. Delay effects are great for making crazy sounds.
He also has a Digitech Whammy 4 (pitch shifter), which I have too! OMG!
That means I'm as good as he is!
Can you please explain music terminology to me?
I.e, a delay, a humbucker....all the names for stuff like that.
I realise half of it's probably obvious. But still.

Interesting. I may take a look at MV then.
Yeah, I can see that. I have Wiretap Scars, Sparta's first album - like Dredg, they make good music, just they lack an inspired touch. But so do the Foo Fighers and Chillis, and many bands, but I still love them more.
Ho-hum.
