Finally, it looks like theyre at last turning into awards show that is about decent music, it started last year with some respectable nominations but none won anything, this years winners are much better apart from Will Young and Robbie Williams(I always thought Radio 2 listeners had better taste).

Joss Stone for best female was ok although how she won best Urban is beyond me.
Franz Ferdinand deservedly won best rock and group although should have been nominated and won best single
Keane walked off with best album and best newcomers
Gwen Stefani got best international female, don't agre with it, should have been Kelis
Avril Lavigne should have got best pop act but it went to McFly
Will Young getting british single was a disgrace
Muse got live act
Eminem got best international male and a couple of years ago i would have agreed but at least it wasn't bloody Usher
Scissor Sisters win international album, breakthrough and group, the last one probably being the only one should have got.
Robbie Williams won yet another vote to prove once again how dumb the voting public are, if thats the best song of the last 25 years i'll jump off a cliff.
Bob Geldof gets the outstanding contribution to music award, wrongly i think, musically he's not done much in a long time and if anything this is just for his charity work.

Overall it's a big improvement on previous years and i'll be looking forward to next years Brits.

I never realised the rap / hip-hop stuff they show on those crappy music channels is actually the real music that real fans listen to. That made me sad. I always thought is was rap lite for the teeny chavs.

But then again, I have no idea what I'm on about.

I've only heard that name in the last week and i still dont know what it is.

I try, i've found it's very easy to be serene and peaceful when you have nothing worrying you but the last 8 months have been the most stressful in memory and it has gotten to me a little.

Exactly my point, you can barely distinguish the rappers now from their songs. Every song, it's the same thing. I think the only ones today who are trying to say something are Nas and Kanye West. Back in the old days of hip hop you had artists like Gang Starr, Public Enemy, N.W.A, KRS, Slick Rick etc who had a message

Wouldn't really know as when i lived there i was 12 :-D I'm sure we do have the whole clubbing thing (especially around the south in places like Atlanta with the whole 'crunk' thing) but not as it's known here in Britain.

The whole rap scene has become just really horribly cliched, every video is the same, the message is the same, no-one has anything new to say or a new way to say it, i think Eminem has maybe prolonged the lifespan by adding white sensibilities to a black art. I know almost nothing at all about the Japanese music scene, i saw some act on Jonathan Ross that i'd heard from an advert, from what little i've seen guitar bands seem popular but they have a quirkyness about them.

I think over the next couple of years people will move away from rap, it's been around for a while now and if you look at past movements none has really lasted more than a decade, rap has passed that marker but something new is now needed.

Rock and Roll -> Beat rock ->Glam rock -> Disco-> Punk-> Electronica ->Dance after that things sort of merged and we got rap with the dance movement and things haven't moved on since, we seem to be moving back towards guitar bands, they're generally decent guitar bands but theyre not really doing much new.

For America you could change Electronica for Rap, has America really had the clubbing scene?

Personally i'd be happy if it just went back to how it was back in the 80's and 90's. Rappers actually bringing a message with them like KRS-One or just having fun like Black Sheep or Biz Markie. Nowadays it's just all about women, money, how much stuff they have and how many times they've been shot. Gets boring quickly. I've gotten so bored of it i'm turning my attention over to Japan with artists like Dragon Ash

I can't really see where the next movement is coming from, looking back most things have merged from whats already existed, i think there are signs of a doo-wop revival, we had it briefly from Eamon and i heard what sounded like it from Kanye West in the way he merges a sort of rap with melody.

I'd say he's the weakest of the 4 who didn't win although i like that he clearly listens to Marvin Gaye and Terence Trent D'arby a lot, the influence is very clear in the second album which my sister owns and i'm subjected to every morning.

I can only think of Kanye West who sounded useful from what little i've heard of him. Who else?

You'd need a new type of music for that to happen, that was when rap really came out of the new york underground after being hidden for most of the decade, we had the whole acid house thing over here which i couldn't bloody stand.
