Okay last night, don't know what happened but at 1 something Freeola broke for me and I'm not able to see any images on Freeola. Though I can still use it. Also visiting sites like amazon.co.uk and digitalspy.co.uk the sites either don't work or take me to a normal looking site, but is actually adult orientated. I'm using FF, but I tried IE and I get a similiar result.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope =(

Nope the problem is still there, or should I restart the computer? :(

Symantec you mean the Norton Software? hmm I'll reinstall it again and fix the things you highlighted.

Actually, not alot. :) I've got AVG running and I've got adaware installed which I rarely remember to run. Though thread reminded me to reinstall SpyBot Search & Destroy which I did yesterday. Otherwise I generally dont bother.

The HijackThis log doesnt look that bad to me. Theres...

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ssldr - ssldr32.dll (file missing)

so you did have a trojan at some point at least. Whether AVG has cleaned it I dont know.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmmqy.exe] C:\windows\system32\dmmqy.exe

I cant find out what dmmqy.exe is either, google shows up nothing for it.

And your Symantec install seems to be broken, I'd suggest a reinstall of it.

This scan might take 2 hours, almost half way and already scanned over 500,000 objects. And about 3/4 of that is just pornography.

EDIT: Oops just found another 14 infected objects, but these are medium threat and seem to be tracking cookies.

HackThis? do you mean HijackThis?

Either way, shows us the log from HijackThis (download it first if you've not already of course).

I could only find 4 posts about this problem and all of them were made this November. One just yesterday.

I've installed AVG Anti-Spyware and it's currently doing a complete scan. It's already found 3 items, 2 at high risk.

I'm hoping after AVG is done everything will be working.

EDIT: Oh and I'm posting my progress should anyone else have this problem and come across this thread.

I used HijackThis, and fixed these two files

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1- 22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)

And there was nothing in the host file but my localhost ip.

Unfortunately still not working.
