In many previous Star Wars games, it is often the case that you follow a fairly important set of characters, either a jedi, a pilot in one of the main squadrons, or even the queen of the naboo. However, as shown in Starfighter, the less information we have about the characters and their story, the more imaginative the creators can be when developing their games.
It would be fantastic to roam from planet to planet simply as the alien of your choice. Anything from the fluffy Talz, like Muftak, to the little Kowakian Monkey Lizards like Salacious Crumb, could be your main character. You would probably have to exclude the larger beasts such as the Rancor and Krayt Dragon, but the choice is still vast. It would also be fun to use a digital camera when a PS2 version is available, in order to truly emerse yourself in the Star Wars fantasy (that is, if you think you can take it).
As in all good Star Wars Movies, the "little known" world of Tatooine could be the starting point, perhaps in a booth at the Mos Eisley cantina. The intro sequence could involve something simple like a quick payment for the drinks to the barkeeper Wuher, and off you go into a bustling street. A simple story starter could involve a group of renegade smugglers being purued by security employed by the Hutts, and taking part in a battle just outside Mos Eisley. Being the inquisitive alien that you are, you would obviously end up amidst the turmoil. This could lead to your gradual molding into a smuggler yourself, and many adventures around the galaxy.
As a smuggler, you could be given the opportunity to explore space, and push the frontiers of your imagination. The number of planets that you could visit would obviously have to be limited, but this could be achieved by hyperspace routing that ensured you only visit a select number of star systems. This would also apply to the surface of the planets as well. Instead of recreating entire planets, the character you use could be restricted to the spaceports and surrounding areas.
With the story set, an "aim of the game" would have to be found, and this could be the involvement in the fight against the empire, or even aiding the empire to remove the rebel alliance. It would probably be best to avoid the Trade Federation and especially gungans.
I know that even if there was no overall plot, I`d still love it just because I could roam freely around the galaxy, visiting the planets and aliens of my choice. This kind of game could make me forget to go to lectures forever, and keep me next to my PS2 for the rest of my life.

i agree, that would be cool
I like the idea of a Star Wars Black + White. However your character ends up you play the rest of the game suited to your unique personality!!
However, it would be great fun. As the most powerful being alive you could literally do what you want, and maybe turn it into a Star Wars Black and White!
You could pop to Jabba`s Palace and make fun of Bib Fortuna or even Max Rebo`s band, only to find that you get chucked into the Rancor pit! Just imagine going face to face with Jabba, and arguing your case. Maybe you could even work for Jabba, smuggling spice from Kessel or something.
It is often said that the possiblities are endless, and often it is an exaggeration, but in this case they really are infinite.
It would be great just roaming around space in say the Milennium Falcon searching Tatooine, Naboo and every other location!! I will keep my eyes on this one!!
