Half the time, I'm looking at the screen in slack jawed wonderment.............
"there is no place in this enterprise for a rougue physicist" Bwhahahahaha, quote of the year.

Short?
I thought the 20 or so hours I spent playing it through (for the first time) was quite long actually... Longest FPS i've ever played. Aswell as playing it through again, it's took up PLENTY of my time.
Fair enough for the rest of the points... But I'd still disagree with them :)
Some of my problems with it:
Bugs - this game has been in development what 6 YEARS??? Bugs should've gone...
Filler bits - Some of the bits, especially the mines I found to be really boring, just slogging around shooting annoying head huggers and I hated the snipers which are a pain to kill...
Narration (or lack of) - it feels like this game should have had some more story build up, or at least some more dialogue, cos the story almost feels tacked in...
Enemies - needed more satisfying enemies to kill instead of endless zombies, guards etc
Guns- The guns felt quite generic/ soulless to me, dunno why...
Length - this game is quite short really... and a lot of it seems like filler...
NPCs - Apart from Barney I thought most were pretty boring really (thought the bit just before you enter the mines if you stay and watch the priest was bloody funny)...
Wow! factor- apart from a couple of moments, this game seemed to lack the wow factor that makes it a true classic... it lacked the feeling I got when I for example first played Zelda:OOT, and I don't feel deprived now I've finished it unlike some other classics I've played where it felt like a small section of my life that I'd invested time into was over...
SO OVERALL
I'd say this is a good game, but contains too much filler, bugs etc to be a true classic, and feel it is perhaps overrated due to the classic that was the first game.
It has some classic moments and factors, but somehow it feels less than the sum of its parts...
Rating- 85%
But let's be honest, the game could've lasted for 382 hours and I'd still be "I want more"
Halo 2 ending is utter toss.
"I'm going to take the battle to them. On Earth. This is it" etc etc and then credits.
Hang on, I've just gone through level after generic level of shooting and running, don't dangle mass battles in front of me and then stop.

SPOLIERS
I haven't played Halo2, but have to say I loved the ending to Half Life 2.
Freeze. Huh? What the hell's going on here? What?! Highest bidder!? HUH? Credits and cool music.
Excellent. I love stuff like this. I played it again to see if I could make sense of it, and saw a Combine Overseer on the screen (I missed it the first time) just before the final battle.
Yet MORE questions asked, without any answers. Good stuff.
I don't know what takes place during the ending but Valve are apparently working on Half-Life 3 on the QT with only minor refinements to the engine thus a hell of a lot shorter development time.
I loved the Opposing Force add-on back for Half-Life and something similar would be really pleasing.

Yep. Yepyepyepyep.
I thought "Oh christ, here's the generic 'you've lost all your weapons' level that seem to populate games these-days, a shame because this has been innovative so far"...until I realised they left me the gravity gun.
And with that beardy evil science bloke saying "Look at the destruction you've caused Freeman", I did more.
And more.
People sure do fly well, and I threw them all into the energy cores/up in the air/over balconies.
The only comparison between Halo 2 & Half-Life 2 is the somewhat abrupt ending to both.
