Musical geniuses and pioneers who deserve to live on into eternity?

OR

A slightly better than average band who really should have given it up by now?

Discuss.

Vertigo's an awesome song. Not keen on their new one, whatever it's called.

I'd say there music isn't as good as it was, and they had a pretty naff excuse for not doing the Glastonbury gig, they said they were camera shy. They're losing it, yet have had an illoustrious career...

I quite like the new album, but their old stuff was best. Achtung Baby! Stands out, really. The style is still pretty much intact, which is impressive and to be honest I'd have acquired it just because Brian Eno produced it.

Only A Man and a Woman, Crumbs From Your Table and possibly Yahweh (haven't listened to it enought to make a solid decision) stand out as the memorably weak songs.

Others, like Miracle Drug, City of Blinding Lights and Original of the Species are really good, and you can say positive things about the rest too - Fast Cars, for example, is a good track to end on.

Agreed, there's some really good - even moving - songs on their new album if you just give it a bit of time.

It's not something i can help, i have musical OCD you see, i must s*g crap bands or other people will listen to them, preserving the shelf life of American crap-rock and tormenting me for many years to come.

I just can't understand why everyone seems to go mad when they announce a new tour or album.

They're not that good, surely?
