"Changing Name?"

Well. I've been doing a lot of thinking, I'll be 16 soon. Not that that's a particularly amazing achievment, but simply that I want to decide which name I adopt.

See, my mother's name is Lindsay, and my father's is Kuen. (Last names...)

And, since I live with my mother, it's been Lindsay. But... I dunno.

If I were to want to change my name, legally, to Kuen, how would I go about doing it? Do I just start signing things with it?

You can do it online if you like, but if you dont fancy that you can go to your local town hall/council and pick up a leaflet about it, or just do it right there and then. It costs about £100.

You can get as many names as you want for that so I'd suggest adding in a couple of decent middle names like "steel" and "rod" and "grandpa", just for the hell of it. Middle names arent necessary for identification and you never have to disclose them , so you might as well cover yourself incase you ever become a pornstar.

may I also suggest that you change your name to Ian Mike Grigg-Spall so that you can sign letters

Think about how your mum would feel. You're dropping her name. Losing a part from her to you.

Think about how your dad would feel if you mentioned it to him. He may have never considered it before, but this news makes him upset. He might like the idea only for you to say you weren't going to do it.

Well, my Mums OK with it. I mean, she actually thinks it's a good idea. I mean, they get on, vaguely well, but live in different countries...

As for my Dad, he'd never know...
