"Changing Name?"

Well. I've been doing a lot of thinking, I'll be 16 soon. Not that that's a particularly amazing achievment, but simply that I want to decide which name I adopt.

See, my mother's name is Lindsay, and my father's is Kuen. (Last names...)

And, since I live with my mother, it's been Lindsay. But... I dunno.

If I were to want to change my name, legally, to Kuen, how would I go about doing it? Do I just start signing things with it?

You should be called Bob.

You have to change your name through legal documentation I think Coin. Not just start using another name. I have always wanted to change mine. I'd be David O'Donell.

I never used to read those, now I find myself skipping 'real/important' news to read these.

I've often thought about changing my name by deed poll to Deed Poll. Just to see the look on the assistant's face as I hand the papers over.

Heh. Change it to Sir. Another client of mine did that. Oh how the warders laughed at his insistence they call him sir as they cheerfully beat him into his cell...

Heh. I had a client in my days of law who changed his name every few months via deed poll. He wasn't the sharpest tool anyway (though he was undoubtedly a tool of some sort...), and he went to different solicitors to change his name each time. No-one, including him, knew what his given name had been. He couldn't remember.

We just called him Clyde (as in "Right turn Clyde"). It was a more accurate descriptive.

Also had a client who changed his name to Kaiser Soze. Just before going to prison.

People are odd...
