Can anyone suggest the best 19" monitor in the region of £150 - £200?

I'm looking at this at the minute, although some reviews say it's excellent and others say its no better than average.

I have my desktop set to 1600 x 1200 though and my 19" at the moment is actually 18" viewable anyway.

I'll look into TFT but I can't say I'd get one.

Well with TFTs the area quoted is the actual viewing area, with CRT's generally, a 19" will have about 17" to 17.5" of actual viewable area and a 21 inch monster will only have approx. 19"

As for the 1600 x 1200, I was always a fan of CRTs but my desk was a bit impractical after I impulsively bought a massive 21" IBM monitor. It had to go due to space constarints. I have to say, there really isn't that much of a noticable diffrence in games between 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.

The space/power/heat saving more than makes up for it, also the flicker free display for prolonged periods of use is good.

How does that work then? I'd rather 18" than 16.5" viewable.

And anyway, I want my 1600 x 1200 resolution :P in which most TFT's for that price don't provide.

Thats a viewsonic monitor, its bound to be excellent. Although for that amount you could get a 17" TFT with exactly the same viewing area as a 19" CRT...
