The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Monkey_with_Attitude has already been given one prize for his suggestion of community spirit in e-mails.
There are now three further prizes in this competition.
1. Monkey_with_Attitude
E-mail a friend links in discussions etc.
2. Fantasy Meister
Gameaday leaflets or stickers on products we sell, especially in the shops.
3. Monkey_with_Attitude
Prompt people to bookmark or place our sites on home pages.
By the way - It's no good searching for the promotional thread. We deleted it so that our competitors can't get their sweaty mits on it.
There may of course still be other winners to this as every suggestion which is used within three months will win a prize.
I think SR should make this more noticeable, so people will know think of this site as “a normal gaming site” but “a really generous site that offers games, and DVD films to people every day”.
Do anything along those lines, you'll get noticed.
What about having on-line retro game competitions. Lots of people (I know quite a few) search for old arcade games (e.g. Spy Hunter, Arkanoid, Kung Fu Master etc). If links were accessible through search engines, people could play the games, but only SR members could enter the competitions (e.g. high score in Arkanoid being June's comp, Spy Hunter in July etc etc). This could attract more members to see what else SR has to offer.
Not being much of an expert in these matters, I don't know how easy this would be to set up (if at all).
Another simple possibility, although printing costs would need to be considered, is placing stocks of SR magazines in popular retail outlets such as EB, Game etc. I don't know how costs would balance against advertising in magazines, but if it was the SR specific mag then people will read it, rather than flick through other magazine ads. Naturally, some would refuse to stock it (competition and all that), but it could go down a storm in shops such as WHSmith.

POWER OF THE SHEEP
You didn't get a free game because it wasn't used
