Or why not keep the team that are so talented at making Metroid Prime on the project, the team that has developed the game from scratch and has seen it evolve, the team that was HURT when they found out NTSC were making a DS version of their popular game... keep them making the game.
But feed the company money to expand so they can develop more franchises.
Why would you take away Retro's baby? Why would you take away Retro's project? Why would you do that to them? Would you take Mario away from Miyamoto? Of course not! Shigsy would be horrified if he had nothing to do with Mario anymore and Retro would be horrified if they lost Prime.
Would you like it if you wrote a book and then the publisher had someone else write the sequel??
Retro aren't 75% Nintendo, Retro are Nintendo.... the team is made up of older Nintendo employee's after many of the team quit or were fired. But that is the Retro we know and love, the team in Retro Studio's, be them made up of NTSC members, Acclaim members, RARE members or Valve members.... they are now Retro. And they love their prime, let them make it.

But why???? The team are made up of those that made Half Life, Turok and Goldeneye... this a team built for an innovative First Person title like Metroid Prime.
Expand the team, don't take away their prize asset!
And if you try and tell me that Metroid isn't them doing their own thing then I am dissapointed.

Wteva, just release them from Metroid and let them do a new thing.
What I don't like is the assumption that Retro are somehow seperate from Nintendo. They are as seperate as intelligent Studio's or NTSC... as in not at all.
Only a handful of those who started Retro still work there. 75% of the crew were fired and some replaced by Nintendo's own employee's. Nintendo own Retro. They are one and the same.
What's the difference in saying "I'd like NTSC to do their own franchise", why not? Sure they are Nintendo but so are Retro.

Wasn't it originally their own solo project then Nintendo asked them to turn it into a Metroid game?
Yeah Metroid "Prime" would be their own..... to a certain extent. It was heavily supervised by NCL.
