I've had this All-In-One device for a while now and it had been working fine. However, I went to print something and it throws up an error:

---------------

System Error

The document cannot be printed due to a system error.

Try printing again. If unsuccessful, restart Windows and try printing again.

---------------

So I tried printing again - nothing.
Tried restarting and printing again - nothing.
Tried uninstalling the device and allowing windows to detect then re-print - nothing.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling all software then reprinting - nothing.

The strange thing is, the printer monitor icon in the system tray shows the printer is "Ready" so that's working, and the scan facilities also work fine. The copying facility also works fine, so the problem must lie with the software.

I have had a look on the HP Support section and there is nothing related to this error message.

Please - any help? I need the printer working!

OK, this is p!$$!ng me right off now.

I tried what you suggested with the printer-head cleaning. It prints all the pages for that fine, but still won't print any documents. However, each time I ask it to print a document, the printer does do something, but doesn't spool any paper or print.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer - nothing.

I tried the Windows XP troubleshooter - nothing.

I tried installing the printer on my mates laptop - it worked fine! So I know it's something on my PC. Any thoughts? Please?

I had this error with my Epson 680. Seriously the exact same thing.

Unplugged the lot of it and cleaned the wires, plugged it back in and did a printer head clean and it stuck, so I got angry and hit the top of the printer (broke the plastic case) and it's worked fine since.
