This is tradegy of a phenominal scale. I cannot even contemplate that many human lives ending at once, and on christmas. Its a sick thing.

******

127,000 was the final count, although its feared it was somewhere closer to 150,000. All I want to add is not to those who died, but for the survivors, I hope things don't get to hard for you and I wish you the best of luck.

Obviously it wouldnt be, but the fact of the matter is there were people affected, and so it is.

My original point has been confused (Hell, even I forgot it).

What the point was, was if all these people hadn't been affected by this, ie, no-one lived there, so no-one was hurt, then, would it really be on the front page of all teh papers?

If a deaf person in a room on their own farts out loud does it make a sound? Of course it does, no one is there to hear it but if the deaf person could hear you'd know it does as a hearing person would hear it.

If you are in a room and the light is on and you leave the room, is the light still on? Of course it is, you're just not there to see it. Same thing, just because there is no human presence doesnt stop it existing, sound is exactly the same.

Take back all i said munn
you made some valid points
In my opinion I believe if a celebrity is on the front page in circumstances like this it makes us realise the human tragedy 4 all...I hope so at least..Off to Luxembourg 4 a few days..Happy New Year to you all...keep debating!!!

If you killed a million people like Strid, you'd be granted eternal life and any 2 other super powers of your choice, infinite money, an army of monkeys, 'king of the world' title and many, many ladies to play with.

Or you could enslave them and have the army of monkeys. Then use the army to get everything else, and then kill them all.

It wouldn't be a tragedy if it was someone like Strid or crossbob though.

Stalin once said;

"A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic"

And sadly, it's somewhat true.

It's probably because more people actually care about people they've heard of.

The general public doesn't actually care about 70,000 people they've never met who've died in a country they'll never visit.

9/10 people would pay more attention if 10 major film stars have died than 100,000 people they've never heard of.
