I applied to leicester Uni, (it's actually my last choice) for Electronical and Software Engineering. And its the only one i've had an offer from so far, but when i applied, they said they wanted a meer 50 points from maths, which i got from As-Level.

But i received their offer the other day, and they want 300 points, of which include B in Maths and B in either Electronics or Physics.

I can get a B in electronics. But im annoyed about the B in Maths, i doubt i can get it, i got a D in As-level, so im already down for marks.

I just hope my other choices ask for less.
Otherwise im screwed.
Do you think they'd let me in if i get a C in maths?

Yeah, they wanted more than any other I applied to. AABC, I think, or AAB and a B at AS. But I doubt my course is as well applied to as Maths.

They have to decline your application, which means UCAS will send you a letter informing you of this, even if they don't bother to.

If they pure and simply dont want me to go, will they just not send me anything, not even a letter saying "ha! pull the other one.."?

People I know that applied to Warwick for Maths have already recieved their offers.

They're ridiculous though, they're asking for 4 A's. Cambridge haven't been as demanding.

Jsut notcied some of my spelilng and voacbualry there was terirble. Good job I am donig Phyiscs and not Englshi.

although it is well proved that the actual spelling of a word when being read is not that important as long as all the letters are there and the first and last letters are correct. Which is why you shouldn't have any problem reading the above.

I wouldn't worry too much about it mate.

Although a good idea would be to phone or/and email the course leader at the uni to either explain the situation or just to ask some questions and casually mention the point, then hopefully they will make a note of you and look out for your application.

I started a Physics with Astrophysics degree in September in Notts. I only decided to apply 2 months prior to the course and I and didn't even have the enough points for the requirements (already had my grades as I took a year out), but I was told I would have a place after 2 conversations- 1 over the phone, a few emails and a face to face visit. If you show that you are confident that you can handle the work content then most places will hopefully give you a chance over someone who has the grades but has no personality or who shows no iniative.

Good luck.

To whomever mentioned Warwick - if it's anything like last year, you won't hear from them until at least half term of Spring 2005. They were the last to respond to my application, and it was the same for loads of others I spoke to.

Still got an offer without an interview though. As I did with all my choices. Pwned.
