I always new I'd be a bit :-S with the control system, but I was sort of prepared for that. Still, I was sort of looking for some great cinematics. I noticed that the graphics were a little dated now, but I didn't mind that.
What I DID mind was the FMV.
Noticed how it's split into lots of little videos (because some are just Jill's, some are just Chris' and some are for both so there's a lot of mix 'n match) and the reason I noticed because the flit in between them is anything but smooth. It sort of does my head in...
And I was expecting the controls but I was expecting to get along with them a little better. I did use "Type C" but even that's a pain.
So that game lasted me a whole 5 minutes.
I'll come back to it someday. :-)
I also got F-Zero as a pressie for my brothers and thought I'd test drive.
I know it's early days but I don't think it's a patch on F-Zero X on the N64. It IS a lot better in a lot of ways, but I prefer X's slightly grittier but smoother feel, compared to GX's slippy bumper plastic feel...
I sort of wish Sega hadn't made it. Not that I think they did a bad job, it's just it sounds like you're in Super Bowl with the loud music and commentator. Typical Sega/Capcom noiseness which is the character of the arcades but is it right for F-Zero?
But perhaps the new style just takes a bit more getting used to.
I dont think I'll ever rate it better than X though!
An F-Zero X "port" on the DS with all the garage options and track building ideas? That would be nice, especially with the option of uploading and downloading tracks online.
Talking of DS, does it have a slot for external memory?
Perhaps the GBA slot could be of use...
:D
Do I get a proper buzz out of this whole horror thing?
I guess I'm sort of getting into the game a bit but... we'll see how it goes. It's not half as bad as the first 5 mins made it seem. :-)
The game was enjoyable because it was the ultimate horror movie in a game and was damn fun because of it.

My point was that you can't judge multiplayer games by how quickly you can finish them...
With Smash Brothers I agree with you. Soccer Slam didn't make that league.
Mario Kart though, I wouldn't rate NEARLY as much as Soccer Slam.
Coming back off the tangent, F-Zero has grown a little more on me, but it'll never be as good as F-Zero X.
I have got one genuine complaint though.
Some of the levels (especially the casino ones) make it hard to tell where the track ends and the drop begins, which is a bit annoying because I don't mind losing to lack of skill, but because the graphics aren't clear?? :-S
> Tphi, that was my point you muppet! :-P
I blame my Christmas party-frazzled brain :)
Yeh, I agree with your points on Resi. I never got into it at all to be honest, which is a shame. I still turn it on to marvel at the graphics every once in a while though, before remembering why I hate it..

Personally I'd consider Smash Bros and Mario Kart both better in single player and much more generous when it comes to multiplayer fun - especially four player which I play on a regular basis.
Starfox is all round mediocre.
Resident Evil is even worse, only you don't notice because the atmosphere and the story takes your mind off it.
I mean, it took 3/4 of the game before Starfox got to me.
Resi hasn't really grabbed me, probably because I don't dig all this suspense survival horror with clunky controls and economic use of amunition.
So Resi owns Starfox, but only because adventure itself makes you forget how poor the controls are. The complete opposite of Windwaker perhaps?
Edit: And I liked that Lizard Shopkeeper! :-P
