Would i be able to use that as webspace? Ie. load webpages from it and stuff.
And would i be able to assign people webspace off it?
Any body got any ideas?
Good job they didnt accept my card or they would of conned me.
They should say that somewhere.
It's not that convienient to leave a computer on all the time, and the noise also.
I think i'll just stick with paying for it. I found a thing called freeola, anyone heard of it?? :P They actually offer a great deal, buy a domain and get unlimited webspace. For 2 years.
Good deal, unless there is a catch, like 5mb bandwidth per day :S
A PC running as a web server doesn't need to be very powerful at all - an old Pentium 75 is fine for hosting a basic web site.
It's not quite what i need really.
Dang, oh well.
For example, you might allow them to access your hard disk by setting it up thus:
ftp://ftp.mydomain.com
However, your hard drive won't let them get to:
http://www.mydomain.com
That's a fairly simplistic explanation, and it's not entirely correct, but the general theme is correct.
Could you dumb it down a bit.
Does that mean anyone can edit my files on that harddrive?
Sorry, i just need to be positive before i buy.
