If i buy a network hardrive, that plugs into my router, which connects to the net.
Would i be able to use that as webspace? Ie. load webpages from it and stuff.
And would i be able to assign people webspace off it?

Only catch is that you have to connect via their dialup or their broadband to access your webspace.

It's not that convienient to leave a computer on all the time, and the noise also.
I think i'll just stick with paying for it. I found a thing called freeola, anyone heard of it?? :P They actually offer a great deal, buy a domain and get unlimited webspace. For 2 years.

Why don't you use leave your PC on all the time - or get an old PC from eBay for next to nothing and host files on there running it as a web server. People here will be more than willing to help you setup a web server and FTP server.
A PC running as a web server doesn't need to be very powerful at all - an old Pentium 75 is fine for hosting a basic web site.

Basically, in order to host a web site, you need a web server. This is the program that feeds the web page to the person asking for it. Otherwise they just get sent a file. With an FTP server, someone with the username and password can login and upload/download/modify/delete files on the hard drive, but they can't view them as web pages as such.
For example, you might allow them to access your hard disk by setting it up thus:
ftp://ftp.mydomain.com
However, your hard drive won't let them get to:
http://www.mydomain.com
That's a fairly simplistic explanation, and it's not entirely correct, but the general theme is correct.

No, because afaik it doesn't have a web server. You can point the domain to it, but it'll only connect via FTP, not HTTP.
